A US Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew filmed their rescue of four fishermen who ran aground in Browns Inlet, North Carolina, on Dec. 9, 2019.
According to reports, the fishing boat’s engine had succumbed to mechanical failure, and the vessel was then lodged over a shallow area, stranding the fishermen as dangerous weather conditions approached.
The crew of the 88-foot fishing vessel sent out a distress call, and the US Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City responded rapidly. The video shows the rescue team using a hoist to bring all four of the fishermen to safety. Reportedly, there were no injuries, but the eventual fate of the boat didn’t make the news.
