An Iranian vice president was diagnosed with coronavirus on Thursday, according to various Iranian state media outlets.
Masoumeh Ebtekar, the Iranian vice president for women and family affairs, tested positive for the virus, and was reportedly in close proximity to Iranian President Rouhani and other high ranking cabinet members as recently as yesterday.

Other significant Iranian cabinet members have contracted the virus as well, including MP Zolnour, head of parliament’s national security committee, and Iran’s deputy health minister, Iraj Harirchi.

Harirchi appeared in a press conference yesterday which told citizens that the Iranian government is having no problems containing the coronavirus. Iran has the highest number of deaths attributed to the virus outside of China, with over two dozen fatalities.
