The unidentified Marines is stationed at Fort Belvoir and is currently being treated at the on post hospital hospital. It is being reported the Marine had just returned from an undisclosed, overseas location, where they were likely infected.
In addition to the infected Marine, a Sailor stationed at Naval Support Activity Naples tested positive for the coronavirus, becoming the first American service member in Europe to contract the virus. The sailor and those who have been in close proximity to the individual are currently isolated and restricted to quarters for treatment or observation.
There are now at least three US service members, representing three different military branches, on three different continents infected with the coronavirus. The Army has banned any kind of travel for US troops coming in or out of Italy and South Korea to include taking leave and fulfilling permanent change of station orders.
