The world’s top online gaming streamer, Ninja, has announced that he will be leaving Twitch and will exclusively stream on rival platform Mixer.
Ninja, whose real name is Tyler Blevins, pulls in approximately $500,000 per month as a result of his involvement in the gaming industry. He has over 14.7 million followers on Twitch and primarily plays Fortnite.
Ninjamade the announcement on Twitter, and also published the following hilarious fake press release video in which he plays all the main characters.
Twitch made a statement on his leaving, stating that, “We’ve loved watching Ninja on Twitch over the years and are proud of all that he’s accomplished for himself and his family, and the gaming community … We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
Mixer is owned by Microsoft and has had trouble competing with Youtube and Twitch regarding popularity with both streamers and fans. Will Ninja’s switch change the dynamics of the pecking order?
